(iseceived lo, ll.u a.m.) NOTTINGHAM, Aug. 12. New Zealand defeated Sir Julian Cairn 's XL by nine wickets. Their suceess was really outstanding. It was the first time that this t&am has been beaten sin.ce a defeat five years ago when touring Soutb America. Ihe New Zealand bowling was excellent, especially Roberts, who might° easily have taken six or eight wickets, several snicks evading the fieldsmen. He performed the hat-triek before lunch for the first time of his career. ,He recelved the ball as a souvehir, Cowie bowled his fastest and all the batsmen played him defensively. There was nothing wrong with the wic£.*»i. It was a performance of giett merit to dismiss snch a strong side sq eheaply twiee. ISTew Zealand comfortably scored the runs required, although the bowling was of average country strength. 'findill gave -probably his besi display of the tour, making clear strong strokes all round the wieket. Oarson punisked anything short with great severity. - Detulls: —
