HAWKE'S BAY HUNT
Point-to-Point at Tikokino To-morrow EXCELLENT ENTRIES The second point-to-point race xneeting of the Hawke's Bay Hunt will take place at Tikokino to-morrow, when very good fields have been got together. With prospects of a fine day, tho gathering should prove a most enjoyable one. The committee is making every endeavour to arrange for progress reports of the Rugby Test, South Africa versus New Zealand, to be given out on the grounds., The meeting takes place on properties loaned for the occasion by Mr G. Limbrick, which afe situated near the Tikokino Hotel. Mr W. H. Gaisford, of Dannevirket who "Was appomted judge of hunting trials, is unavailable, and Mr Roy Gallien, of Hastings, will act in his stead. Tti every event there will be a iirst, second and third trophios, all kindly donated by well-wishers of the hunt, while Mrs Muncaster has generously presented a silver cigarette^ase to each of the successful ridera in the lightweight, heavy-woight and open poiut-to-poiut steeplechases. Mr A. E. Wishart, secretary of tho Hawke's Bay Hunt, will act as master of ceremonies, and he has everything in order for the various eVents. The proceedings open with the Lightweijjht Steeplechase, for which nine entries have been received. Most of the entrants, with the exception of Tommy Atkins, are regular followers of the hunt# and the jumping ability of all will see a close and interesting result. . Then foJlbws the Jiuntcrs' Trial (for ladics) with no lcss than -twenty-one eutrants. Bome excellent Jeiipers liavc been ontered, iucluding a number that' have seeured prizes in similar events. beforo. The Heavy-Woight Steeplechase is going to result in another very close race. When a similar event was run at the point-to-point meeting at Mangateretere last month, Harfcaway, and Mr J. J. Gatcnby's Tasniauiun-brcd agcd golding/ Bright Light, had a gioat tusslo over the Jast half-niile with only a hcad bctween tiieiu at tho Unisli, but as both weut inside a flag on tke wiiiuing post Mr Hansen's Jack was able to come in and collect iirst prize. Rlr Gatenby, recognising his error, camo back and rode in second. Hcnce this race to-morrow is the centro of much attraction, as Jack and Bright Light are engaged again, with newcomers m Trooper and Pae Tutu. King Kong aud Offa will again try their luck. The Open Stcepiechaso has attracted a field of six, including Acron and Sabatini, both of whom wero in the rnoney last woek at Takapau. Tommy Atkins will more than likely tako on this company in preference to the opening event. Then comes the Ilunters' Trial (t'or men). This contest is over any coursc the committee may deeuje ou.
