A seedsmiin.'s catalogue, while of exI treme interest, does not always mention the exact varieties of dififerent vegetables which can be suitably sown at certain seasons, and amateur gardeners are often xmzzled to know just the righ't hinds to get. The following varieties are safe to plant this nionth: In . wcll-draincd and warm spots _ an' early soiying of French beans, Oanadian Wonder, may bo made. If the ground is wet and water-logged this crop may be postponed for a fortnight. Broad beans,, Early long poil , should still be plantci and the niain crop sown I'.ow. Cabbage for latc spring u-se may be transplantcd at ouce, Eiilield Market being the most suitable. Sc'eds of the following varieties may bc set in thin drills or boxes: Drumhead, Succession, Early Yoi'k. Ked pickling cabbage is an exeellent variety for boiling as well as pickling and will stand well in the summer months. Garrots, Intermediate, and Early Horn, can be " highly recommended. Those who prefer an early .carrot for soups, stews, ete., will find the former variety the best. Cauliflower plants may be transplanted or seeds set for a later crop. Early sowing for lealcs may take plaee where room is available. London Flag is the best variety. During growing periods they require liberal application of Mquld manure. Large plantings of potatoes can now be made of both early and late varieties. If the tubers are spread out until they commence to sprout and then plantcd they will then grow quicker. While this is being done prepare the ground that no time may be lost. Early Puritan, Up-to-Dates, Gamekeepers and Arran Ohief arp four sorts that can be relied upon.
