Mr. Nash's Return is Awaited

(Prom Our

WELLINGTON, Last Niglifc. The guaranteed-priee cominittee kas submitted its reeoinmendations for the eoining season for dairy produce prices, but the report will not be released until the return of the Hon. W. Nash, who, as the Minister of Finance and Minister of Marketing, is directly concernedt stated the Prime Minister, the Et. Hon. M. J. Savage. Cabinet 's decision, therefore, awai.ts consideration by Mr Nash. The price will operate from the commencement of the new season, August I. "Ha'ving in mimi the fortnight's delay after the; season 's opening," the Prime Minister commented, "the worst that can happen is that -the dairy farrner gets for this portion of the season what he was receiving before, and if changes are made he will get the benelit of thein as from Augnst 3, so the farmers need not worry. They have nothing to lose, and to wait 14 or 15 days for the announcemenfc is not disastrons. They have been waiting for years for something like security, so they should not mind waiting to see if they are going to get an increase on last year's price or not." The Prime Minister wa^ asked for an indication of the financial resnlts of the flrst year's experiment, the interviewer mentioning the opinion of a prominent produce merchant that the later prices in the season were so good that the predicted deficit of. millions was not likely to exceed £400,000. "Pranldy, I cannot tell you the result," answered , Mr Savage. "I know that some have talked of millions of deficit, but nobody has volunteered the actual ofiieial position, and I have been too busy to ftnd out."
