Defeat in Australia By Sydney Team / (Receivcd 11, 8.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 10. , Tho Now Zealand hoekey team played the Sydney Metropolitan team at Hurstville Oval to-day, the game resulting in the defeat of the tourists by i'our goals to two. The raanager of the New Zealand team said that the ground was the best his team had played on in Australia . Both of the goals seored for New Zealand were hit by Roughton. The outstanding New Zealanders wero Robertson and Clark. Tho Hurstville Council gave a reception in honour of the visitors, and treatod them to a motor tour of the South Coast. • In the State hockey matches played to-day, the game between Queensland and Westcrn Australia resulted in a draw, noither side scoring. South Australia defeatcd Tasmania by 5 goals to nil, and New Soutli Wnles drcw with Victoria — onc gohl eacll.
