CIVIC SQUARE WORK
30 Men Engaged in Clearing Area Developmental work has been started at the site of the proposed Civic Square in Hastings, and' at present 30 men are engaged in clearing the huge quantity of rubble and rubbisk used for fillingin the area and are preparing tke way for re-filling and levelling the bloek witk a better and more productive typa of soil. It is expected that the present gang will be occupied for about six or seven weeks, and the work is being carried out in accordanco witk the agreement reacked with the Hastings Borougli Counci! when it was granted a sub"idy of £5000 by the Employment Promotion Board. The work is part of thc sckedule drawn up to provide labour for men who wero registcred as unem-ploved-or on sustenance.
