GIANT GERMAN LINER

Auckland Visit Unlikely ROUTE FOR WORLD CRUISE ti .
(From
AUCKLAND, Last Night. "The latest information we .have is that there is no intention of the liner Bremen coming to Auckland," said a member of the staff of Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd.,'agents for the Nord-deutscher-Lloyd Line, when a suggestion that the Bremen^ a 31,656-ton iiner, would possibly call at Auckland in the course of a world cruise next year was referred to liim. "Present arrangements are such that she will not call at either Australia or New Zealand," he added. It was explained that the Bremen," one of the fastest ships in the Atlantic, had been chartered by the New York firni of Eaymond, Whitcombe and Company for a world cruise. From New York, the Bremen would go to Europe, South Africa, tndia, the Straits Settlements, Java, China, Japan, the Philippines^ Honolulu, California and back to New York by way of the Panama Canal. The harbourmaster, Captain H. H. Sergeant, said he had had no advice of the company 5s intention to bring the Bremen to Auckland. If she came here, she would be by far the largest ship ever to enter the port, being about twice the . displacement of the biggest liner previously berthed at Auckland, and even larger than H.M.S. Hood. It was not antieipated, however, that there would be any diffieulty in accommndating the Bremen if the trip were made.
