HAWKE'S BAY HUNT

Point-to-Point at Tikokino SATURDAY'S. ATTRACTI0N On Saturday the Hawke's Bay Hunt holds its seeond point-to-point stoeplechase nieeting of the season, this time at Tikokino on properties kindly lent for the occasi.on by Mr. G. Limbrick. The decision of the H.B. Hunt to hold this meeting at "Tiko" is greatly appreeiated by the followers of that en(i of the distriet and will go further m popularising the sport, It is many yeare since the H.B, Hunt has staged two such meetings in the one season, but, judging by the interest beiug taken, Saturdaj 's attraction looks like ptoviding a precedent for the future. Thp.first event will start at 1 p.m. and the admission charge will be 2/- per head, cars being admitted free. There has been a very attra-ctive programme drawn up, the opening event being the light-weight steeplechase, with a minimum weight of 11.7, run over a distance of two miles and a-half. The two other steepleehases are the ?pen Point-tb-Ppint and the Heavyweight, both run over a eourse of about 'two miles and a-half. The former event 's weight condition is 11.7 and the latter'e 13st. In these two races there will be a iirsct seeond and third trophy, the same applying to the lightweight race. The Hunters' Trial (for ladies) is open to horses hunted by a member of a Hunt during this season and to be ridden by a lady member of a Hunt over such course as the Stewards may deeide, This event also cajrries three trophies. The conditions of the Hunters'. Trial for men ara the same, but the horses must be ridden by holders of a Gentleman Eider's Certificate or by one eligible for one. A very interesting item is the Ladies' Bracelet (flat race) run over a distance of about a mile. It is for horses owned and hunted to the satisfaction of the committee and to be ridden by owners. There are only two trophies attaehed to this race. The "smaller fry" have got their heads together and are going to ask the powers that be "to add an impromptu event to fhe already framed programme and to make the addition of a children 's pony raee with post entries." Here is hoping that the committee will ! give the "kids" every consideration. ! Owners are reminded that nomina- | tions for all events close with the secrel tary, Mr A. EJ. Wishart, at the Hastings racecourse tea ki.osk at 5 p.m. cn Wednesday (to-morrow), August 11.
