Farewell Parties for Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Dwight

WAIPAWA, Last Night. A most enjoyable evening was spcnt in tho Waipawa Council Chambers on Saturday evening, when members of the Otane Labour Party branch, and railway co-workers of Mr P. H. Dwight, gathered to bid him farewell as he is leaving shortly to take up ius resiaence in Napier. Mr H. Hepbifo, of Waipukurau, was appointed to the chair, and Mr H. Gill, with a fev appjopriate words presented Mr D v'gus, o*n« behalf of those present, wici a travelling rug, and two gifts for his wife and aaughter. Mrs Dwight' s gilt was a very pretty pottery vase, and Miss Dwight's a usefui cheese dish. Mr Dwight suitabiy responded. SiiiiuJtaneously the ladies o£ the Ota'ie branch of the Labour Party tuok a surprise party to Mrs Dwight3 s home, where a, happy evening was spent in playing cards and community singing. After supper, Mrs Lv Olsen, of PuRebou, on behalf of Otane and Pukehou " friends, presented Mrs Dwjghc with a handsome bronze vase of au unusual shape. Mrs Bauke, oi Otane, then handed Miss Dwight a daiuty duchess -set, with gold handpainted butterflies. Both recipients thanked their friends for the kind thought and gifts. '
