An unusua] acfc of thoughtfulness is performed all the year round by a settler living on the Maraetotara-Wai-marama road about 25 miles from Hastings. Every night for a considerable time she has left for the benefit of the runner who delivered her evening paper a thermos-flask and something to eat. This is done all through the year but, as can be easily imagined, the refreshmeut proves particularly acceptable on , winter uighis.
