GISBORNE, This day. Nearly 70 4-th. breeding ewes Were missed from the Hangaroa statiOn of Mr. J. B. Von Pein during July, and the police are anxiotts to aseertain if any similar sheep have been disposed of recently in the North Jsland or more particularly in districtjs adjM cent to Poverty Bay. Prior to their oi sappearance the sheep were grazing in a paddock bordered on one side by the Hangaroa-Waikaremoana track road. ■ The sheep all bear the station earmark, whioh is a front sliver and front bit out of the left ear and the age mark is a bit off the end of the right ear.
