The Mayor of Napier, Mr C. O. Morse, returned to Napier on Saturday_ after a visit to Wellington. Mr. T. R. Cresswell, chairman, Dr, J. W. McHwraith, and Mr, R. Cameron, a Fennsylvanian aurgeon, arrived at Auekland by the Monterey from Los Angeles to mako a short visit to the Otago Medical Sihool, whose l'esearch into tumours has attracted his attention. Dr. Cameron is an old boy of Wellington Coliege, and is uow professor of oral surgery at Temple University, Philadelphia, Mr, F, S. Mr. R, J. Mellroy, M.Sc., an old pupil of the Palmerston North Boys' High Bchool and Victoria Coliege, Wellington, aus been awarded the Chidiain Bchoiarciiip for post-graduate research at Birmingham University. Bruce, A.N,Z.I.O.. has been appointed to the staffi of the' Dominion Fertiliser Co. For the last nine year,s Mr. Bruce has been engaged aa inspector of fertilisers with the Department of Agriculture, Wellington, and before that he waB for some years engaged m investigating eoil problems at the Cawthron Institute,. Nelson. Mr, Bruce is the author of many papers and articles dealing with the scientific aspect of farming and soil problems, and is recognised as one of the leading authorities in New Zealand on the chemistry of soil and fertilisers. He will take up his duties at Ravensbourne, Dunedin, almost immediately.
