They were feit over ah htea stretching for se 'oral miles oh All sides of Fairbanks^ Wkicli is the centr/ of Govetnment activities in central Alaska. Fairbanks was just recovering from a disastrous flood, which stibihefged parts of the town for several weeks. The earthquake was Suiprising to old residents beoause Fairbanks is not in the recognised Alaskan earthquake zone, and the shocks sent huhdreds of terrified people into the streets. Fairbanks has a population of a little more than 2000. .
