— r- m w w ™ Found Asleep, Corered with Twigs Lost in the snow in tho Black Forest, four English schoolboys, separate from a touring party, covered themselves with twigs to keep out the cold, and as they lay down in the snow. Twelve hours later, after an all-night search, the boys were found~asleep in each other's arms. The boys were with a party of 15, condncted by their teacher, all from Newcastle-on-Tyne. On Easter Saturday they reached a youth hostei at Aschhuetto, near Errenalb. Thero it was found four of the boys were missing. After some waiting a search party of Hitler boys from Pforzheim and Maunheim were sent out and, with torches, pocket lamps and bugies, searched the forest all night. They gave bugle signals at short intervals, but the boys could not be foutfd. Then - on Easter Sunday came the news that they had been found. Here is the story of their adventure. Just behind Dobel Hill ihe boys had fallen behind the main party. They inissed their way in tbick sndw and wandered about in the forest until night fell. Exhausted, they lay down in the snow, huddling together after tfiey had covered themselves with twigs. There they were found ut 8 o'clock in the morning. One of the rescuers said: "For 12 hours we Were trying to trace tho boys. Once we diacovered some small footprints in the snow, but they ied nowhere. Finally we found a number of footprints near the Dobel HUI. We aearched the neighbourhood for many hours but it was early in the morning that we diseovered the boys, fast asleep in the forest." Ond of the boys said: "We heard the shouts of the searchers, but our an«swetSng caUs wero too weak to be heard by them." Next afternoon the boys, none the worso for their experience, were able to continue their tour with their coxnrades.
