Italian Planes Allegedly Responsible GERMAN SHELLS USED

(Iieceivod 7, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 0. The Britisb Corporal, on amval at Algicrs, reported that three inonoplanes bombed her for an hour. There were no casualties but slight damage. "When the erew attempted to take to the boats, the plan.es swooped dowu and machiue-gunned them, forcing them to take shelter. It is' reported that planes also boinbed the Italian steamer Mongioia, when aiding the British Corporal, seriously wounding the mastor, Oaptain Verrito. The British Oorporal was homeward bound laden with benzine when attacked*. The first news of the bombing came from Marseilles, when it was re-' ported that the vessei had sent out au Sst.O.S. imploring assistance. Tlie Admiralty stated later, however, that Ihe British Corporal caneelled the S.O.S and was going to Algiers. The Britishi Admiralty has called for a report from the British Consul on the British Corporal bombing. Captain J. H. Bovill said that the planes looked lik© Italian Capronis. Splinters collected from the deck after the ship's nrrival at Algiers allegedly show that the bombs were of Germau manufacture. The planes dropped forty aerial torpedoes and the concussions put the ship's wireless ollt of action.
