Auckland Amateur Fined

AUCKLAND, Last Night. For having an unlicensed radio transmitter and impersonating radio stations, Gilbert Glazebrook, who was charged en a summons bnt did not appear, was fined £2 and costs on each charge by Mr. F. H. Levien, in the Police Uourt to-day. An iuspector said that many complainte had been made that a sup* posedly unlicensed station was transmitting on the call signB ZT.IVK and VPK. The inspector heard the transfnissioa of calls and recorded items on the afternoon of July 5 and called at defendant's house, where he found an unlicensed transmitter. Defendant admitted the olfence and said that he* had no idea his calls were Betting outside, which he was sending to a i'riend in Howe street. The inspector said- the calls were heard as far aa Gisborne, Napier and New Plymouth. The Magistrate said that the maximum fine which could be imposed on the first charge was £100 and on the second £50 or. six monthe.
