INSTITUTE AND RIFLE CLUB DANCE AT KERERU
The Kereru Women 's Institute and the Poporangi Defence Bifle Club held a combined dance in the district hall. Favoured with a very fine night the dance proved a very pleasant fuuction. Excellent music was supplied by Phil. Walden 's orchestra. The i hall was gaily decorated with red, white and blue streamers. Two novelty dances made an interesting break in the programme. The spot one-step was won by Mrs. H. Mail and partner, and the waltzing competition by Mrs. Brabant and Mr. B. Engiebretsen. A competition for a turkey was also won by Mr. B. Engiebretsen. The thanks of both clubs is due to tl?e energetic committee, whose work made for sliccess. Among those present were: — Mrs. L. E. Averill (institute president), in liberty georgette in shades of blue and pink; Mrs. P. Sheild, figured crepe-de-chene; Mrs. H. Mai! (Coromandel), midnight blue metal striped taffeta; Mrs. W. A. Whyte, blaek floral georgette; Mrs. J. Hewitt, black lace frock with lacquered coatee; Mrs. P. Walker, lemon georgette; Mrs. J, Hastie, cream satin; Mrs. Brabant, apple green satin; Mrs. Martin (Hastings)> green corded silk; Mrs. B. Kinga, cherry marocain; Mrs. M. Kingi,. black figured crepe-de-chene; Mrs. Haycock, black satin and lace; Mrs. Arthur, floral georgette; Mrs. Dorreon, floral crushed crepe; Mrs, Campbell, chequered taffeta; Mrs. Gray, black silk relieved with coloured bebe ribbon; Miss I. Massey (Dargaville), mustard crepe; Miss D. Simmons, eau de nil satin; Miss P. Simmons, salmon pink crepe; Miss Elmers, ruby panne velvet; Miss E. Sorrensen, pink floral georgette; Miss Baker, pale green taffeta; Miss Dugelvy, plaid ninon.
