NEW SCHOOL GROUND IN WAIPAWA

WAIPAWA, This Day. The laying-out of the new school ground in Harker street. Waipawa, wtU provide very interesting work for the District High School Committee, and not the least important will be the planting of sjielter trees and shrubs round the boundary of the area* At la-st night's meeting of the committee, Mr V. A. Patterson submitted a seheme in this connection whieh received the unanimous approval of the members. It is proposed to invite all ex-pupils of the District High School, as well as people who are iuterested in the wolfare of the institution, to donate one or more trees, the cost of each not to" exceed three shillings. Every tree donated will have a peg beariug the names of the ditferent trees, but will tree, These will be recorded on a largescale plan and kept in the school building for reference. The plan will not only be an instructive record of the names of the digerent trees, but will permanently record the names of those who have been closely identified with the progress of the schooL Already a large number of trees have been donated, and it is anticipated that no trouble will be experienced in obtaining gifts to complete the work. It is also proposed to lay out flower plots in front of the belt of shrubs and trees when the planting ie done. and these will be divided into sections and placed in the care of the respective classes to ensure the ground being kept in an orderly condition.
