Rumours About Duchess of Windsor DUKE DEEPLY GRIEVED
(By Telegraph-
— Copyright.)
(Beceived 6, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 5. "The Duchess of Windsor never had any of Queen Alexandra 's jewels," states a correspondent of the London Star for whose reliability the Star vouches. The article quotes Miss Helena Normanton the English barrister, who visited the Duchess before her wedding, as saying, with the fullest approval of the then Mrs Warfield: "The Duke of Windsor never at any time inherited any jewellery from any member of the Boyal Family. Mrs Warileld has never been in possession of any jewellery ever owned by Queen Alexandra." The article deals with rumours emanating from the French Press that the Duchess of Windsor lent a ready ear to Nazi propaganda which apparently originated i'n an unfoundod rumour that she was a member of Herr Joachim von Bibbentrop's circle. re-
! garding which Mrs Warfield told ' ' ; ss Normanton that she was only in iiorr von Bibbentrop's company twice at roceptions and never alone with him and never had more than a few words of small talk. "I took no interest in politics. ' ' The article says that the Duke of Windsor so far has made no answer to his traducers, but his friends know how deeply he has been wounded by slanderous tongues. It hurt and dis-maye-d him to find how widespread there had been in circulation the rnost fantastic rumours about the Duchess and himself.
