COMING-OF-AGE PARTY HELD AT PAKOWHAI

Over 100 guests wero entertained at a very jolly party which was field in the Pakowhai Cfiurcfi Hall to celebrate the coming-of-age of . Mr t Dcu Brunton, second son of Mr aiid Mrs O. Brunton, of Pakowhai. The hall waa gaily decorated with red, white and biue streamers, coloured lanterns aud balloona intermingled wiW greeuery, An excellent prograrame of dance musio waa played by McKay's orchestra, and Mr S. Holmes carried out the duties of M.C. During fhe evening items were given" by Miss Parker and Miss Howard* acpinpaniedi by Mrs S. Holmes. A delicious supper was enjoyed by everyone, and thq beautiful birthday oake iced in'pink and* green and decorated with 21 candles and a gold key, was much admii'ed. The supper tables were decorated with bowls of iceland poppies and greenery. Several toasts were honoured during supper. v Mr 0. Brunfon presented a large gqld key to hi$ son, and this was later signed by the guests. Mr Don Brunton bhanked eyeryone for the jolly party and for the many beautiful gifts which h« had received. During the evening much merriment was caused by little paper hats in all colours and shapes which had been mude by Miss Bita, Howard. Mrs 0. Brunton, who welcomed the guests, wore a gown of black ring velvef. with & spray of pink roses on thp corsage. A very jolly party was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syuc "
