AUCKLAND, Lafet Night. "It seems T was never meant to have any luck," Was a tragic sentenco in & note left by Reuben David Jacobsen painter, agej 35, WbO Was fotiqd dead in a bedroom of bis bouse at Morningside on Saturday shortly before noon. A doctor wbo was summoned found a strong smell of a powerful pOison in tbe room and also in a glabs and on the dead man ?s lips. At tbe inquost to-day tbe widow gave evidence tbat hdr relation® witb ber hiisband were norinally friendly. She was away sbopping, she said, wh.en tbe death occurred. Her busband had never stated Ms intenbion to take his life. A step-daugkter, aged 15, said tbat she saw ber father Teturn from tbe city. Later she saw him with a glass cotaining two lumps of a white «ubstanee. He retired to a room, telling ber that ?Te did "not wish to be disturbed. She heard liim groad and found him jying on tbe floor. Sbe called a neigbbour, a doctor and tbe.poliee. The Coroner found tbat death was due to suicide by poisoning.
