The Archbishop of York-, in opening the -World Oonferenee on faith and order at Edinburgk. delivered an outsppken sermon on the evils of a divided Chureh. ' Even the ordinary lay fold ds more ready to come together in the face of a recurrence by paganism than the leaders of ecclesiastical organisations which are intent on maintaining their traditions and keeping their organisations in working order. How can the Ohurch call on men to worship one God if it is cailing them to rival shrines? ' '
