FRED DAVIS'S TEAM
Horses for Australia Francis Drake, who is to aecompafiy Courtcraft and Homily to Australia' next month, says a Wanganui writer/ was given a run over six furlongs last weok in company with Imposturo. They went very fast over the first half -mile, the' quarter beling left behind in 24s and the Ealf-inile in 49 3-5s, finishing up against a strong wind in 1.18 1-5. Both hit out very well. Francis Drake promises to .be at his "best early in the uew season, and from the way he is shaping he should reproduce all his former brilliancy. Courtcraft was given three round3 of pace work. This colt is going along in most pleasing style, and the ease with which he covers the ground vsuggests that he has plenty of pace in reserve. Looking every part a Derby colt, Courtcraft has only to train on the right way to earn distinction on? the other side. Homily, the rising two-year-old filiy by Posterity — Homage, is getting through her preparation nicely, and she has. shaped in very encouraging style in one or two smart sprints recently.
