The Waipukurau Homing Pigeon Olplj Qpened its seasop. successfully 'at the week-epd, with a. race fqr yeariingp from Shannon to Waipuk'urau, a distance of 70 mjles as the pigeon liies. Forty-seven pigepns, representiug eight lofts, were penned. They were liberated at Shannon by the railway stationinaster at 9 a.m. in sunpy, caiiji weatjier. As oouditions were fayourable at Waipukurau 'also, it was expected tjaat fast times would be recorded So it proved, the winning bird, Mr F. J. Fraser's "Tbree Ones" doing the jojjrney in one hpur, 22 ininutes and two seconds. The new timing elpeks, in use for the first time, gaye entire satisfaction, repording the time to a second.
