WELLINGTON, Last Night. The death, has occurred of Mr ltichard Edward Eobertson, at the age of 76, who, prior to his retirement, was Drake oxpert for the New \Zealand Railways. He cam© to New Zealand in. 1900, and superyised the equipping of the whole of Ihe Government Railways' rolling stoclc with the Westinghouse brake. The fitting at Auckland of the first braking system on any tramway in New Zealand was also supervised by Mr Robertson, He joined the head oflice of the New Zealand Railways in 1915. As originator of the New Zealand Safety First League f°r Children, he addressed schoql children for many years on saf ety first matters, and sup* plied free to parents and children posters containing speeial instructionn to children. Mr Robertson leaves a widow, four sons, and a daughter,
