Cramm, 6 — 1, 1 — 6, 6—3, 2 — 6, 6 — 2; McGrath defeated Butler (Britain), 6 — 4, 6 — 3, 6 — 0. Bromwich 's victory was the sensation Of the championships. He played with great assnrance, while von Cramm frequently netted and outed. Metaxa, the Austrian Davis Cup piayer, defeated Crawford, S — 4, 3—6, i— 6, 6—1, 6—3.
