PALMERSTON N., Last Night, The South African footballers arrived from Taranaki this afternoon, a very large crowd being at the station to meet them. No welcome was extended at the station, but later the Springboks were welcomed by the president of the Rugby Union% Mr A. M. Ongley, and the Mayor, Mr A- E. Mansford., at their hotel. The ground was dnipeefed during the afternoon and the opinion was expressed that it was the driest and fastest they have been on in New Zealand. To-morrow the team will practice before luneh and given a motor trip to places of interest in the afternoon. The team to represent the Springboks against Manawatu is as follows: — Brand, Lyster, White, Hofmeyr, Bester, Harris, Lochner, S. C, Louw, Lotz, Jennings, Bastard, Nel, Berght Van Reenan and Watt; emergencies, Cravea and Strachan.
