BRITISH MUSIC SOCIETY

Last Tuesday the piano gfoup of tho British Music Society met at Mrs B. Paynter's home, Havelock North. The subject of tho evening was "Personalities." Sketches from lives of musieians were read and some examples of their works wero played. The following programme was presented: — Sarabande (Handel), Miss M. Crawford; Nocturne in C 1 nr.nor (Chopin), Miss F. Parkinson; Passacaglia and Bqssian Dance (Cyril Scott), Miss A. Lock; Quasi Sarabande (C. Hubert Parry), Mrs Blair; Legende No. 1 (Paderewski), Miss I. Clayton. Mrs Blair gave soipe personal reniiniseences of Sir Hubert Parry. Other readingo were: Theodore Prcsser, Miss McLeod; Cyril Scott, Miss Lock; a sketeh by Mark Hanibourg, Mrs Thompson; de Paelimann, Miss Barnett; anecdotes of Paderewski 's life, Miss Dalton, Miss Pichelt and Miss Clayton.
