THURSDAY—THIS WEEK

Hastings R.S.A. Ball Practically everytking is in trim for the event of. tho season — the R.S.A. ball, tp be held in-the Assejnbly Hall on Thursday of. this week. It only remains to add the final touches to the decorations before the first dance at 8.15 sharp. ' The response of the general public has been most generous, tlie donations for the supper have surpassed all expectatipns and the decoration committeo is disgjuising the hall so that it will be hard to reeognise it. The floor is having special preparation, and the music will be supplied by Les Henry's Orchestra of seven instruments. The programme has been carefully selected so that those who enjoy the "old favourites" and those who prefer modern music will be fully catered for. A special feature will be the "platoon'.' of M.C.'s, wlio will see that no one is left without a dancing partner. The demand for tickets has already been encouraging, and everything points to a great suceess, both socially and financially, as it should be, when one considers the object of the dance. The ball has been organised to augment the l'unds of the Hastings R.S.A. — a most necessary and laudable object — and since tlie inception of the ball a few years ago, the response has been most praiseworfhy, The "diggers" appreciate what has been done for them and in return. endeavour to organise the .dance 'so that all who patronise it will enjoy tbemselvqs to the lith degyee. Anyone having dilliculty in obtaining tickets may have them by making application to the secretary, Mr V. A. Thomson, H.B. Meat Co's building, Karamu road. Remember Thursday this week, and the first dance is at 8.15.
