24 Permits Issued During July WORK VALUED AT £11 ,-486 Though there has been a falling-off in the number of new Tesiidences being constructed in Hastings, additions and alterations to six different existing bouses were authorised last month. Building in Hastings generally continues to be an acbive industry. During the past month 24 permits were issued for work estimated to -cost £11,480, as compared with 28 permits for £18,541 worth of work in the month of July last year. Two major works in the business area were begun last month with the reconstruetion of the premises occupied by Hallenstein Bros., and J. B. Fletcher, Ltd., respectively. These two works are estimated to cost £6737. Details of the work authorised last month, as supplied by the borough inspector, Mr C. O. Carrell, are as follow:-— No. of .Value Permits.
