TWO TRUE BILLS
Supreme Court Trials at Napier ' JUDGE'S COMMENT True bills were returned in both criminal cases for trial by tbe Grand Jury at the August session of the Supreme Court at Napier. which opened tbis mpxniqg before Sir John Reed. The session, which is expected to be completed with'in the week, begau with a trial on a charge of forgery. The following Grand Jury was empanelled: Messrs L. T. Bisson (foreman), L. A. Krogh, H. C. Thompson, J. E. AUen, W. M. Nielson, W. B. Anderson, H. M. Bennett, R. Kennedy, H. MaeGregor, G. H. Bickerstaffe F. E. •H". Harvey, E. C. Pirie, S. W. Hannak. D. Barry, J. E- Bullivant, R. Hannah, B. 0\ Player, G. H. Browne, A- A. - McDougall, G. C. Laws, A. M. Retemeyer, G. D. Dunsford, E. T. Bees. "You will be pleased to hear," commented his Honour, "that the calendar on this occasion is a very light one. There are neither sexual cases nor prosecutaons for causing death or injury throngh motor-care. That doei not mean, unfortunately. that motor colJisions have ceased in the district. There are claims in the civil cases, but apparently in these cases- the negligence was not considered sufficiently serious • to warrant prosecution. ' ' His Honour reviewed the chaTges . against Charles Prederick Murphy of alleged forgery, uttering, and attempting to obtain goods and money by f alse pretences; and that of assault against Sidney Patterson Fairhall. In both cases, he remarked, the Grand Jury would experience no difficulty in deciding that there was eufficient evidence to Warrant pntting the men on trial. The Grand Jury returned after an absence of 15 minutes with true bills in each instance.
