Stay-in Strikers Leave Mine COMPANY'S FIRM STAND

SYDNEY, July 30. The stay-in strike at the John Darling colliery collapsed abruptly at 8 p.m., and. all tflie men left the mine after an announcement by the Broken Hill Company's manager that the company was not prepared to submit tb further humbugging and intended to close their minos at John Darling, Burswood and Lambton indefinitely unless they received assurances of a contiunity of work. The police to-day prevented 1500 miners and their wives and friends from making a demonstration at the top of the mine, The maTcihers included men from seven surrounding collieries, who bore down on the "John Darling" pit singing "Tipperary" and "Solidarity for Ever," and wavine Red flags.
