REMINDERS
Members of the Hawke's Bay Aceountant Students' Society are reminded oi the high tea to be held at the Trocadero, Hastings street, Napier, on Monday evening at 6.30 o 'clock. Following the tea the annual competition will be held. Mr N. Webley, oi Dannevirke, has kindly donated the prizes and will act as judge. With the expansion of the E-oyal New Zealand Air Force, an increasing number of vacancies for enlistment is occurring which will provide for young New Zealanders an opportunity not only to learn useful trades but, at the same time, to satisfy their natural bent for adventure and leadership. In our columns to-day 129 vacancies are notified and applications are invited from j oung men of agas from 18 to 25 years to learn various aircraft trades. There will be many visitors and residents seeking a place of entertainment to-iiight, and among the foremost will be the old- time dance to be held at the Excelsior Hall, Hastings street, Napier. These dances have for years past proved the most popular and eociable held in Napier. The usual special bus will leave Hastings at 7.45, returning after the dance. A social and dance will be held at Omahu on Thursday next, beginning at S p.m. Dave Kamau's orchestra will supply the music, and interludes will be given by the Heretaunga Maori choir. There will be euchre xur non-dffncera. A free bus will leave West er man 's corner at 8 o'clock. Tenders for fencing on the Napier airport, closing with tho district engineer of the Public Works Department, Napier, 'will be received up till 4 p.m. on Friday, August 6. Specifications may be seen at the P.D.W. offices, Napier. At a full attendance of the Soutli Island Reunion lOommittee, held on Wednesday night, it was decided to hold the 16th anpual reunion on Thursday, September 2, and to make it a special Coronation reunion. McKay's old-time orchestra of eight instruments will play a programme of special oldtime favourites going back to Queen Victoria's Coronation. The decorations and supper arrangements are to be something extra-special.
