Moderator's Broadcast Talk Cancelled GOVERNMENT BAN

(By Telegraphjr

A.UCKLAND, This Day. As the resu'lt of conditions imposed by the Government, the proposed broadcast talk from 1ZM to-morrow by the Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly, the Rt. Rev. T. H. Eosevearej under the auspiees of the Crusade for Soeial Jnstice, has been cancelled. The Postmaster-General, Hon. F. Jones, stated in a telegram to the organisation that, pending a decision on the question of broadcast talks and debates, it regretted it was not possible to agree to the broadcast under the auspiees of the Crusade. However, the Minister added that he would be pleased to allow the moderator to spealc provided his seript was first submitted and approved by the station direetor. The organisation of the Crusade consider that such conditions would mean that the moderator would have to speak in a purely independent way, and that his address would be more or less alienated from the body under whose auspiees it was planned. Therefore they had decided to eoncel the broadcast. Officials of the crusade consider that the fact that the leader of the Presbyterian Church 'should have to submit his address on Christian prineiples for approval to be a violation of tHe fundamentals of freedom of speech.
