Tragedy Near Matamata

MORRINSVILLE, Last Night. A well-known Matamata farmer, Mr Percy Barugh, was found fatally shot on his farm at Turanga-o-moana, Matamata, yesterday. The body was found 'at the fo'ot of a steep bank in a plantation, the head being terribly mutilated. A gun, with oue cartridge discharged, was alonjgside the body. Mr Barugh, some time before the tragedy, had been. to the sharemilkers' shed for inilk, and on his return he informed his sister that he had seen three pheasajits and would go out to get one. When he failed to retum his sister informed her brothers, who farmed an adjoining property, and they found the body. Mr Barugh was 41 years of age and a baehelor. He was a son of the late Mr F. Barugh, a pioneer Waikato farmer.
