„ this issue appears an intimation from the Commissioner of Taxes that an instalment of the registration levy become due on August 1 and that on the same date there also falls due the second instalment of the employruent chargon income other than • salary or wages derived during the year ended March 31, 1937. Payment may be tendered at any money order oiiice. The registration levy is payablo by all male persons of twenty year3 of age or over. Failure to pay rendera defaulters liable, on summary conviction to a fine of £5. In addition, a penalty of sixpence per mnoth automaticaliy acerues if paymeqt is not made ivithin one month of the due date, Any employer who employs i'or more than seveu days a person who is more than one month in arrear with an instalment of the Registration Levy, is liable on summary conviction to a fine of £20. Employers may deduct tho amount of any overdue levies from tho wages payable to employees. Tho employment charge on income other than salary or wages is payable at the rate of Sd in the £ by all persons who have attained the age of twenty years. An exemption of £50 is ajlowed to' voraan taxpayers in respect oi income other than salary or wages. A penalty of 10 per cent acerues on the amount of any instalment not paid within oue month of the due date.
