The Colonial Sugar Reflnxng Compauy is spending £200,000 on rebuilding r,o increase the capacity of its distillery at Pyrmont, and on facalities for the transport and storage of molasses. The company is embarking on production of absolute alcohol for use of automobile fuel, espeeially iu times of national emergeney. In making this announcement, Dr. R, W. Harman, the company's chief chemist, said that all the solvents necessary to the lacquex' and explosive indnstries were capable of bedng made at a reasonable cost in Australia from Australian xaw material, and this would be a steru necessity in times of war,
