AORANGI v. H.B. FARMERS' STAFF

The first of a series of matches between the Aorangi Golf Club and the staff of the Hawke's Bav Farmers' Co-op. Assn., Ltd., for a trophy presented by l\lr Alan Balfour, was played Aorangi on Thursday afternoon,

The course was in excellent order, and all the matches produced very close and enjoyable games. The Farmers' team were the guests of the ladies of the Aorangi club at the conclusion of the match, when n dainty afte'rnoon tea was dispensed in Mrs Dasent's home. Mr John Graham, the captain of the Aorangi club, in. a very happy little speech, welcomed the visitors, and Mr Geo. Kelly, in responding, expressed the appreciation of his team to Mr Balfour for his donation of the trophy and to the Aorangi club for their generous hospitality. The match concluded with the Aorangi club one ,up. The results were as follow, Aorangi players being mentioned first : — A.'G. Balfour and W. Johnston defeated G. Kelly and H. Y. Hoadley. O. Clarkson and R. O. Kay beat C. Atkinson and R. Vesty. J. Graham and Mrs Kay halved with S. Canning and E. J. Pbillips. H. Simmons and G. Sanderson lost to R. W. Dalgleish and H. O. Barlow. A. P. Dasent and L. R. Averill lost to J. Vesty and H. E. Douglas. W. A. Whyte and M. P. Averill defeated C. Cricliton and W. R. Clarke. Totals : Aorangi 3J, H. B. Fafj^vs 2i.
