Service to Scouting DEATH A SEVERE BLOW
(By Telegraph-
WANGANUI, Last Niglit. A tribute to Mr Holdsworth's work for the Boy Scout moveinent was paid to-day by Mr Hector Christie, Doinimon Chief Coinmissioner. "Mr HoJdsworth played a very important part in the counsels of scouting in New Zealand when tiines were dlfficuit," said Mr Christie. "He has rendered distinguished service as Auckland metropolitan commissioner for the past nine years, and his death is a severe blojv to the movenient in this country. Dc-ininion-wide improvements must be laiJ to his credit and the additional preBtige with which the movement is now viewed by the business community inay be definitely attributed to him. His deep sense of humour and ready smile were ,appreciated by all, while his business ability enabled the movement to weather the depression without curtailing rts essential serviees." Mr Christie commented that the scout movement was in a position today to expand and progress with the growing needs of the boy. It was safe to say that it had only two handicaps — shortage of money and shortage of men for leaders.
