MRS WILLIAM ENGLISH
The passing of Mrs William J. Bi.ghfh, of Papakura, marks a further 0epletxon of the rapitHy-dwingling Land of earlv New Zcaland-borip settlers who took a l'ull part in the strenuoua davs of colonisation. The late Mrs English was born at LPm'ich, in the Auckland distriet, in the early fifties. She came with her husband. shortlv , after their# marriage, to the Meeanee distriet about 65 years ago. For the past haif-century Mrs Lrjglish had lived at Papakura. With her husband she carried on farming, . having to brave serious floods froin the Tutaekuri river for over 50 years. Of a quiet disposition, Mrs English was held in high esteem by the settlers of the distriet. Her husband predeeeased her six vears ago. To mourn heT loss she leaves two seus, Messrs Joseph English, of Gisborne, and Edward H. English, of PuHtitiri, and li ve daughtcrs, Sister M. A. English, who formerly conducted a ] nvpte hospital in Hastings and i? iiow in Australia, Miss Sabina English. of Papakura, Mrs A. Hart, Hastings, Mrs F. O'Kane, Tauranga, and Mrs W. Percy, of Hastings. The fun-t-ral took place at the Taradale ceinetery. Rcquiem Mass being first held at ( Ihe Meeanee Catholic Church;
