Enthusiastic Crowds Greet Their Majesties CITY STOPS WORK
(Received 29, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, July 29. Belfast and the surrounding towni and villages were en fete for the King and Queen, who crossed the Irish Channel during the night in the Royal yaeht, eseorted by three cruisers and six destroyers. The visit lasts for only one day, but it is filled with processions and ceremonial. The North Irish capital was packed with enthusiastic visitors from all over Ulster. Tfie city stopped work for tfie visit, and a thousand faetory hands released from work with a full day's pay gave a tremendous greeting to Their Majesties. Through the whole Royal drive from the quayside to the City Hall people massed ten to twelve deep on the pavements, and in side roads windows were thronged. Flags, handkerchiefs and hats were waved abovd the mass of the people. Before entering the City Hall Their Majesties visited the Garden of Re* membrance nearby, and also inspected ai parade of ex-servieemen and women.
