NEW ZEALAND STALL AT LONDON RED CROSS BAZAAR

Mrs Mathew Holmes had charge of the New Zealand stall at the two-day international bazaar otganised by the Red Cross Society and held this week at ' the Central Hall, Westminster, in aid of the Florence Nightingale International Foundation (writes the London • r'epresentative of the Evening Post.) The Duchess of Kent was present on tho first day, attended by Lady, Herbert. Her Royal Highness remained for an hour and made a number of purchases, including some at the New Zealand stall. The New Zealand pas-sion-fruit jelly was apparently something that the Duchess had not previously soen, and she placed an order. Mrs Holmes received gifts from New Zealand direct as well as dairy produce, fruit, and canned meat supplied in London. No fewer than 36 'countries had equipped stalls with their national products, and those who presided over them were in national costume, eo that the general effect of the hall was very gay and attractive. Mrs Holmes 's helpers includcd Mrs Penrose-FitzGerald, Mrs Bell, Miss Margaret Bell, Mrs Rodney Thomson, Miss Catkerino Holmes, and Miss Christine Parr. Articles on sale, in addition to fresh produce included, at moderate prices, pottery, glass, fancy goods, toys, books, pictures, scent, jewellery, embroideries, lace, leather goods, brassware, fine fabrics, amber, sports goods, and sweets. The band of the R.A.M.C. played and concerts were given by tho Pontyridd Welsh Ladies ' Choir. ^ The Florenco Nightingale International Foundation awards seholarahips in foreign countries and the Britjsh Empire entitling the holders to attend advanee courses of instruction in London in nursing, publie health, and social welfare. There are generally about 18 to 22 students who come for a year and stay in the foundation hostel, 15 Manchester Squaro.
