TE AWAPUNI INSTITUTE HOLD JOLLY DANCE

Th0 Te Awapuni Women 's Institute held an open meeting in the Barrie Studio on Monday with a good attendance of members and friends. During the evening several numbers by the Maori choir, conducted by Miss McHutchon, were very inuch enjoyed, as were also solos by Mr T. Tomoana, Rev. Rangi Ihu, and Mrs Campbell, all having to respond to encores. . Mr Tbornburrow kept the audience amused with entertaining conjuring tricks and the items were intersperse'd with dancing. The duties of M.C. were very capably carried out by Mr Gharles Bennet and Rev. Rangi Ihu, while the music was given by Mr B. Otene, who very kindly gave this service free, ffs a help to the Institute, extras being played by Mr Otto Jonson. The winner.i in a Monte Carlo waltz were Mrs Mohi and Mr Tomoana, and in a lucky spot waltz the winners were Mr Bennet and Miss Nepe. A most deleetable supper of hot savourias, sandwiches and cakes was served under the capable management of a special committee comprising — Mr and Mrs Lindsay Gordon (president), the latter wearing a sapphire blue panue velvet dress with JDlizabethan collar. Mr and Mrs B. Otene (seeretary). Mrs Otene wore a black cloque evening gown with a silver lame waistcoat. Mr and Mrs E. F. Donovan; the lat-i ter, in azure blue silk crepe with iinger tip coatee. Mr and Mrs Ilarper; Mrs- Harper in wine matalasse with bishop sleeves and gold llower neck ornament. Mrs Nikera, who wore black dull silk with dusky pinlc coatee. Mrs P. H. Tomoana, who wore coronation blue with a while floral desigu. Others present were: — Mr and Mrs Mohi; Mrs Mohi wore a gown of black silk with insets of pink georgette. ' Mr and Mrs Devies; Mrs Davies, who is president of the Fernhill Institute, wore black floral silk marocain with eamellia spray. Mrs Chadwick, royal blue satin. Mrs Oman (Gisborne), maroon ring velvet with natural eamellia spray. Miss i Paku, violet satin beaute caught at shoulders with diamante clasps. 5. Mrs Tichborne wore^ champagne lace. Miss McHutchon, blue matalesse with a grey i'ur coatee. Mrs Ike Robin, black dress with silver lame outlining sleeves and corsage. Mrs Luke, black dull satin with floral blouse. Mrs Campbell, black ninon with long sleeves of ^ilk net and diamante oriiaments. Miss J. Chadwick, floral matalasse with white fur shoulder cape. Miss Mataira. floral taflietas in blue aud cherry. Miss Cunningham, floral chiffon over satin with red fiowers. Mrs T. Tomoana, beige ninon over pink slip, with a white capo. - , Mrs J. Manaena, jade green georgette. Mrs N. Manaena, canary satin evening blouse in Russian style and a black ■satiu skirt. Nurso Rehu, black net with silver girdle and white cloak. Nurse fcimith, black taffetas. htiss W. Tomoana, black dresa with trimmings of tiny buttons. Miss Mohi, parma violet rclieved with white Mrs Lewis, blue floral georgette. Mrs T. Otene, green net with j'oke of flowers and floral bandeau. Miss H. Nepe, black rclieved with pink silk. Miss Kerctau, navy blue matalasse. Miss Morgan, pink gown with a blue sash. Miss C. Robin, blue silk crepe. Mrs Ormesby, blue floral marocain. Miss V. Wairoa, black lace. Miss I. Gillies, black satin. Miss K. Karene, pink tafletas. Miss R. Morgan, blue dress with puifed sleeves. Miss Lavvson, peach pink silk crepe. Miss Kura Bennet, cherry velvet. • Miss N. Horne, pink mariette with net sleeves. Miss G. Wharewera, blue georgette. Miss B. Chadwick, pale blue georgette with brilliant clip. Miss T.
