A complete agreement was reachcd in Conciliation (Jouncil when the tcrms for an award to covcr Borough Councii, County Council and other locUl body employees were diseussed at an adjournpd meeting of representativos of the Auckland Provincial District Local Authorities Officers' Union and the em-, I ployers. i?he Conciliation Comniissioner (Mr. Price) presided. A 40-hour wefek was gen6rally agrccd upon except in tho case of employees engaged on essentiai services. Wages were iixed on tho scale of Clerical workors' awards in other centres, starting at £1. An additionai 2s 6d pCr wcelc was grantcd for tho iasl year of sqrvicc, msking the rates £5 7s 6d for men and £2 7s Cd for women employees. Overtiuic was fixed at tiiv rate of time and a-kalf for the lirs. four liours and double time thercaftcr.
