Situation Being Watched

(Eeceived 28, 12.30 p.m.) EUGBY, July 27. During the House of Lords second reading debate on the Londpn Naval Treaty Bill, Lord Stanhope, for the Government, referred to the decision that Japan not be limited to 14-incb guns. He said that the British admiralty would watch the situation very care' fnlly. If it were found that Japan or any other nation building ships above 35,000 tons or with bigger guns than proposed in the treaty, notice could be given that in view of sueh action the escalator elanse could be invoked. ) "There is not the smallest intention,'-' he said, "that we should send ont men to sea in ships inferior to those they may meet of any other power. ' '
