Monthly Ingleside The monthly Ingleside of the Hastings and District Scots' Society was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Hastings, on Monday night. Chief P. J. X'riest, who presided, remarked that tlie closenesa of the ingleside to the Pipe Band Ball was probably tho cause of so many of the regular attenders beintj absent.. He thanked mombetrs and all outside friends who had made donations and who had worked so hard to make the ball the success that it had been. He especially mentioned Hr McKay's orchestra for the dance music it had provided and Mr .Ramsay and his assistants, who had so ably conducted the dancing. hTe ball had been ' a great success both soeially and linancially, and the committee anticipated lianding over to the Pipo Band Fund about £50. A pleasant feature of the evening was the presentation to Mr and Mrs H. W. C. Baird of a cake-stand suitably inscribed. In malsing the presentation, Chief Priest said that, apart from the life memberchip badges which had already been presented to Mr and Mrs Baird, the members felt that a personal token, something representative of a lasting friendsliip, something to express the esteem in which they were held by the members of the society, should be given. Following the slnging of "For they are Jolly Good Fellows,''' Mr Baird replied on behalf of Mrs Baird and himself. Mrs Baird also thanked the members for tlieir kindness. The programme was as follow: Selection by the Pjpe Band; dance, iSjvords,

Master I. Farquharson; piano seleciions, Miss Langley ; recitation, Miss C. Dewson; song, Miss Deans; recitation, Mr H. W. C. Baird; Irish Jig, Miss Ivnuckey; play-reading, "For Love of Affin." Mrs Baird, Mrs Anderson, Messrs Priest, Johston and Storer; song, Mrs Priest; recitation, Mr Ponald Davies, song, Mr W. S. Eastwood. Supper was fa llowed by dancing. Miss Collins was the accompanist, andi Piper Watts and McKay's orchestra supplied the dance music. Mr Ramsay was M.C.
