.Last Thursday saw the Hastings sub-Association'ts mid-week competition advanced a further stage, ■when the fourth series of games in ti- second rramd were played. The weather was ideal and despite the burnpy grounds the hockey witnessed was of a good standard. At 1.30 p.m. United Gold played Karori. The latter fielded a short team, which made it rather a one-sided match. Uuited Gold eventually ran out tho winrter,s by five goals to one. The main senior attraction was the meeting of the two native teams, Waimarama and Huia. It was quite expacted that Waimarama woudl go very close to beating Huia, and such was the case, the formcr emerging the winners by four goals to oue. The game was fast and interesting from start to finish, aud the crowd witnessed probably the fastest game of hockey played this season. Owing to the fact that United White have withdrawn from the competitiou, Pirates won by default from this team. Jtiniar Games. Owing to High Sehool beiug on holiday they forfeited to Karori. The only junior game played was between Pirates and United Bluc, the game being won by Pirates by three goals to one. Positioas of Teams. With oue gam6 to be played _to complete the second round, the positions of the teams are as follows: — - .

One game yet to be played between United Blue and High School. On No. 2 ground last Thursdav, _ Pirates (seniors) and Karori (juniors), who both won by default, played a friendly game. Pirates fielded a full team, and Karori played 12 men. Pirates certainly did not shape like a leading senior team, and were fully extended by Karori," ' who played good hockey and kept Pirates dbw'n to a two-to-one victory. The match, however, was well advised as it will keep both teams fit. Waimarama have been improving with every game, and last Thursday, fielding a strong team, they displayed good combination and gave Huia no chance. ... __ > To-morrow's game between Huia and Pirates will practically decide the senior competitiou, for if JPirates win it will put them in a position from which it will be almost impossible to shalce them.
