WEDDING SOLEMNISED IN SHANNON RECENTLY
CULLEN— HOOK A quiet wedding was solemnised at Shannon recently, when Doris Winifred, youngest daughter of the late Mr ;and Mrs G. Hook, of Shannon, was inarried to Herbert Guthrie, second son of ; Mr and Mrs H. C. , Cullen, ; Hastings. lrfhe ofiiciating minister was Rev. Mr . Mnrray. . The ' bxLde, who was given away by her brother, Mr R. Hook, looked very • cliarming in a frock of apricot Russian embossed crepe de cliine. Her veil ; was arranged with a coronet' of seed •pearls and orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of apricot roses and maidenhair fern with ribbons to tone. The bride was attended by her niece, Miss Alma Peder.sen, who wore a frock of apple green Russian embossed crepe de chine with coronet of apricot and green rosebuds and carried a bouquet of apricot roses and maidenhair fern with green. ribbons. The frocks of tho bride and bridesmaid were fulllength, made on princess lines, with sleeves having a wide sboulder effeet, the necklines being finished with double-peaked collars. Mr L. Hook carried out the duties of be3t man. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Parish hall, where Mrs R. Gollins, sister of the bride, wearing a brown pin-striped costume, and another sister, Mrs C. Pedersen, in a black pinstriped costume, reeeived the guests. The muck-admired wedding- cake was made by a friend, Mrs H. Whibley, who also made the bouquets. \ Later the happy couple left for the soutk, the bride wearing a Coronation woollen suit with tunic three-quarter length and swing-back sleeves with wide shoulder efiect and accessories to tone.
