BAY V. MANAWATU
Big Attendance at Napier For Game Perfect weather prevailed this afternoon for the fourth representative fixture of the Hawke's Bay Eugby fifteen for the 1937 season. A large crowd attended MeLean Park, Napier, in anticipation of a stern struggle between the Bay and Manawata, reports of Manawata 's stTength having indicated that they would give the Magpies some trouhle. The . spectators were disappointed that the former Hawke's Bay flveeighth, Colin Le Quesne, who was selecte'd for the Manawata side soon after his transfer to Palmerston North, was unahle to play. Le Quesne had not fulfilled the residential qualifications necessary to enable him to represent Manawata in this game, and the rules of the New Zealand Rugby TJnion forbade his inclusion. The emergency substitated, however, Eoy Gillespie, was of a calibre to give the Hawke's Bay defence plenty of work. It will be remembered that he was a member of the Manawata side that downed Hawke's Bay at McLean Park two seasons ago, and in that game he gave a wonderful exhibition. The teams to-day were: — HAWKE'S BAY. Dyer Herbert Brady Apsey Eobins Bradley Clothier (captain) W. Johnson C. Wilson, Griffin, Eeid, O'Brien , Hannigan, Fraser, Dalton, Jackson Emergeneies: Moss, Eeid. One of the forwards was to he omitted. MANAWATU Waldin Buiek Gillespie Bradley Thomas Nicol Edlin Fell Ewart Sullivan Fleming Powell McKenzie Terry J. Finlay
