1800 Convictioits iti Six Months in N.S.W. SYDNEY, July 23. Convictions for illegal betting within the Sydney Metropolitan district and Newcdstle for the six months to June 30 numhered 1800, and flnes amounted tx> £13,427. The Government contemplates stamping Ottt startmg-pric©' betting along the lines of the Queensland legislation, and the matter Will be a major issue in the forthcOmi,ng State elections.
